Monthly HOA Board Meetings Changed to Quarterly

During the April 21, 2022 HOA Board Meeting it was voted to change the monthly HOA Board meetings from each third Thursday of every month to quarterly.

Quarterly dates have been added to events calendar.

Open Positions

Please email board@lakewoodcovehoa.org with questions or intrest in filling one of the below positions.

HOA Board Vice President (VP) – 1 position available

In the absence of the President or in event of his/her inability or refusal to act, the Vice President or Second Vice President shall perform the duties of the President, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all restrictions upon the President. Any Vice President shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to him/her by the President or by the Board of Directors.

Architectural Control Committee (ACC)- 2 positions available

ACC committee members are volunteers. No specific qualifications are needed in order to serve as an ACC Committee member, although it is helpful for a member to have experience or knowledge in construction, architecture, maintenance, or a related field. In most cases, the members of the ACC Committee are not allowed to be members of the HOA’s board of directors. Having an ACC Committee that is separate from the HOA board ensures that there is no conflict of interest or abuse of power by members of the board.

What are ACC Members in Charge of?

The main responsibility of the ACC is to review plans and specifications for proposed improvements or changes to a homeowner’s property. They then approve or deny the requests based on the guidelines found in the community bylaws. The ACC Committee also helps the HOA board members by ensuring that all homes within the community are following the guidelines stated in the governing documents regarding exterior maintenance. The volunteers on the ACC Committee hold regular meetings to review homeowner requests and discuss any current architectural or maintenance problems. They are required to keep minutes of these meetings that can be viewed, upon request, by any member of the HOA.

Playground Removal 3/24/2022

Please be advised that a crew will be at the park today, March 24th to remove the current play structure. In addition, rubber nuggets will be added to the standing swing set later in the week. Children are encouraged to play on swings once rubber nuggets are install.

Laurel Springs RV Resort – Harris County Cease and Desist Letter

The Lakewood Cove HOA has received a cease and desist letter regarding the Laurel Springs RV Resort – Harris County Cease and Desist Letter . Lakewood Cove HOA along with the owners of the Laurel Springs RV Resort (Higbie Ventures  – ℅ Henry Kollenberg and LS RV Resort – ℅ Clay Daniel)  As of right now, the board has researched this matter.  After careful review, of our own documentation, we believe that this is in error because we have no ownership of any property in any way related to the RV resort.   We have attempted to contact the Harris County Attorney’s office several times to gain clarification as to why we were included. We have left many messages; however, the attorney has not returned our calls.  We are continuing to work to get to the bottom of this matter.

RV Drainage Updates (updated 3.7.22)

As many of you know, Laurel Springs RV Resort has been something many of us have been greatly concerned about.  Residents of our community have been working tirelessly to reach out to individuals at all levels of government to get help to stop this project.  Based on this work, it is our understanding that the city feels that should flooding occur in Lakewood Cove it is not the responsibility of the RV Resort but rather the fault of the way that Lakewood Cove was built and its inability to drain the necessary water from the community.  The city has assured us that the retention pond and drainage systems within Lakewood Cove are built to sustain much more water than we are currently draining.  The City of Houston is confident that the drainage in our community can withstand a heavy storm.  Despite the city’s assurances, we are still concerned.  The board will be organizing to have a drainage analysis conducted to ensure that our current drainage can support the community needs.  We will update you as soon as we can regarding the progress on this project and the results of this analysis. If you would like to talk further about this or have additional concerns please feel free to contact Dave Martin’s office or 311 to express your thoughts on this matter.   As always you are welcome to email us at board@lakewoodcovehoa.org
